"Changing Disabled American Veterans Lives One Family At A Time."
Our sole mission is to build the farming system and train the family to operate a sustainable earth
friendly farm with year round production so they have a real income rather than
forced to live on disability or public assistance. Studies show that farming is very therapeutic . Horticultural therapy (HT) is
accepted as a beneficial and effective therapeutic for people with
post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD; depression; and anxiety. While we are not therapists, we are a dedicated group who have seen the miracle healing that farming and self reliance has had on the lives of many who struggle with the emotional and mental scars that come from being on the front lines. The program is also open to veterans with physical disabilities that may limit them for employment opportunities in their community.
Healing. Independence. Financial stability.
Our training facilitywill be centrally located in
Woodward, Oklahoma. The facility comprised of a gutter connected greenhouse
building covering just over one and a half acres under phase one with a total of
nearly five acres when phase three is completed in 2017. There will be four
prefab housing units on the site that will serve as living quarters for the
trainees and an additional three RV pads with full power, sewer and water
connections for those that would like to bring their RV to serve as housing
during training and for guests that visit the facility. A small cold storage
unit will also be on the site where each days harvest will be held awaiting
Inside each 1.5 acre greenhouse will be a state of the art, commercially
proven aquaponics system with forty-eight 1200 gallon fish tanks and growing
space for over 91,000 plants. This system when completed will produce nearly 93,000 pounds of
fish and over 11,000,000 heads of lettuce per year. Traditional farming methods
would require over 60 acres of soil to produce the same quantity of lettuce and 90% more water.
Why so large you ask? Simple. The system will encompass the entire growing
cycle, from seed to finished product, from egg to harvestable fish at all times
allowing us to compress the training cycle from one year to 8 weeks.
But there is another very important reason for the scale of this working farm.
The output from this farm will help to make the program self sustaining. Once
production begins the facility will earn as much as $500,000/year under phase
one. By the end of phase three (9 acres) the facility will produce an income
of approximately $9 million/year due to size and additional varieties of
produce. The proceeds of this output will then be channeled to fund the program
without relying on a continuous stream of donations and grants to continue our
