Step 2: Construction & Start Up

Step 2: Construction & Start Up

Once our candidates have completed the training and have been determined they are ready to begin running their own farm, Liberty Farms will obtain all the required  permits and materials to build their greenhouse and growing system on the veterans land. Liberty Farms will erect the system and assist in all phases of startup. The veterans and their families are encouraged to participate in the construction process, from site grading, to footings, greenhouse construction and systems installation. Confidence is gained in knowing "Yeah, I built that" is just one more step in the process of healing.

Depending on the space available and local zoning codes, a commercial grade greenhouse ranging from 750-1800 sq ft will be constructed. Next the lighting, climate control, electrical & water systems are installed and inspected. An aquaponic growing comes next.

We stay on site and assist our graduate farmers with the startup of their new farming system. Once the system is fully operational we get out of the way.

But getting out of the way does not mean they are now on their own. Our suppliers offer ongoing support and service of their respective systems. Liberty Farms is available 7 days a week to support our farmers and answer questions they may have. We will check in on them at key stages during their first year to ensure they are on track. When they are ready to expand we will be there too.

We don't stop there. We have already secured contracts to purchase 100% of the fish production and are working to duplicate this for the vegetable crops. Of course our farmers are free to sell their products as they choose, but they have the option to participate in these contracts and bypass the additional work of finding buyers for their wares. Just pack, ship and cash the checks.

A professional accounting firm will set up the books for the farmers new business using professional accounting software that includes, training, 24/7 support, the ability to pay bills, make deposits, payroll and everything they need to file their taxes.

We have their six. We will ensure their continued success and never leave a man or woman behind.
